WATCH: Driver Critically Injured in Vehicle Overturn Incident in Trenance Park, KZN

Trenance Park, KwaZulu-Natal – On Friday, July 4, 2025, at approximately 5:37 PM SAST, a white Opel Corsa bakkie overturned in a newly developed area opposite Trenance Park, leaving the driver in critical condition. Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) responded to multiple calls for assistance from bystanders at the scene.

Upon arrival, RUSA officers found the vehicle lying on its roof several meters below road level. The two occupants of the bakkie were not present at the crash site. Interviews with individuals from a large crowd gathered at the scene revealed details of the incident. The driver had reportedly changed the vehicle’s battery before taking it for a test drive. While traveling down a steep hill, the vehicle’s brakes allegedly failed, causing the bakkie to veer off the road, travel down an embankment, and overturn.

The driver managed to walk to the main road after the crash but collapsed and became unresponsive. He sustained serious injuries and was privately transported to a medical facility for urgent treatment.

The passenger, who was also in the vehicle at the time of the incident, is believed to have sustained minor injuries.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash, including the reported brake failure. No further details about the driver’s condition or the passenger’s status have been released at this time.
