Durban, July 10, 2025 – A devastating crash on the M25 Kwa Mashu Highway claimed one life and left 35 people injured shortly before 7 a.m. today. The collision, involving a truck and a bus, occurred just before the Kwa Mashu offramp, causing significant disruption to morning traffic.
According to ALS Paramedics, emergency responders arrived at the scene to find a chaotic situation. Initial reports indicate that a truck traveling Durban-bound lost control, crossed the center median, and collided with an oncoming bus. The impact resulted in severe damage to both vehicles and multiple casualties.
Paramedics from ALS Paramedics and KZN VIP quickly assessed the situation, triaging 35 individuals with injuries ranging from minor to critical. Additional ambulances and Advanced Life Support Paramedics were dispatched to assist with the large number of casualties. The injured were stabilized on-site before being transported to various hospitals across Durban for further treatment.
Tragically, the truck driver, a man believed to be in his 50s, was found entrapped in the wreckage with severe injuries. Despite efforts by paramedics, he could not be saved and was declared deceased at the scene.
The crash caused significant traffic delays, with authorities closing sections of the highway to allow emergency services to operate and clear the scene. The South African Police Service (SAPS) was present and has launched an investigation to determine the cause of the incident, which remains unclear at this stage.
