READ: Elderly Woman Fatally Struck in Pedestrian-Vehicle Collision on Phoenix Highway

On July 7, 2025, a 78-year-old woman was killed in a pedestrian-vehicle collision on the Phoenix Highway, between Clayfield and Stonebridge, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. The incident occurred on a poorly lit section of the busy roadway.
Emergency response teams from KZNVIP Security and Medical Services arrived at the scene and determined that the woman was initially struck by a motorbike while attempting to cross the highway. Following the initial impact, she was struck by additional vehicles, resulting in her death. KZNVIP medics pronounced her deceased at the scene.
The motorcyclist involved in the initial collision sustained serious injuries and was transported to a medical facility for treatment. The South African Police Service (SAPS) Phoenix has cordoned off the area and is managing the scene, awaiting the arrival of a mortuary vehicle.
The investigation into the circumstances of the collision is ongoing, with authorities yet to release further details.
