READ: Western Cape Police Crack Down on Illegal Firearms in Berrydale and Harare

Western Cape police continue their efforts to curb gun violence and enhance community safety by targeting illegal firearms. On Wednesday, 14 May 2025, at approximately 11:20, Berrydale SAPS acted on a tip about an individual carrying a firearm in Kees Street, Berrydale. Officers located a 22-year-old suspect matching the description provided, searched him, and recovered a PAK firearm. The suspect was arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm and is set to appear in the Berrydale Magistrate’s Court once charged.



In a separate incident on Tuesday, 13 May 2025, at around 09:20, Harare SAPS responded to information about a firearm at a premises on Lindela Road, Zwelitsha, Harare. Upon arrival, officers conducted a search and seized a Lorcin 9mm pistol along with 11 rounds of ammunition. An adult male was arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition. He will appear in the Khayelitsha Magistrate’s Court once charged.



These arrests reflect the Western Cape police’s ongoing commitment to reducing illegal firearms and preventing crime in local communities.
