READ: Tragic Head-On Collision on Inanda Road Leaves One Dead, Sixteen Injured

WATERFALL, KZN – A devastating head-on collision occurred on Inanda Road towards Molweni, just outside Waterfall, shortly before 7:30 AM on May 13, 2025. ALS Paramedics responded to the scene, where a fully laden taxi and a light delivery vehicle had collided.

Paramedics encountered a chaotic scene with multiple casualties. Sixteen patients were treated on-site, with injuries ranging from moderate to critical. A critically injured female, believed to be in her 30s, was placed on a manual ventilator and airlifted to a specialist hospital in Durban via the Air Mercy Aeromedical Helicopter. The remaining fifteen patients were stabilized and transported to various Durban hospitals for further treatment.
Tragically, the driver of the light delivery vehicle, a male in his 40s, sustained fatal injuries and was declared deceased at the scene despite paramedic efforts.
Additional ambulances, Advanced Life Support Paramedics, and the Ethekwini Fire Department were dispatched to assist. The cause of the crash remains unknown, and the South African Police Service (SAPS) is investigating.
The incident has left the community in shock, highlighting the dangers of this busy roadway.
