Cape Town – Authorities have arrested a 30-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman in relation to the stabbing death of a car guard in Bloubergstrand. The suspects are scheduled to appear in the Cape Town Magistrate's Court on charges of murder.

The incident occurred in the early morning hours of August 31, 2025, in a parking lot at Marine Circle. Surveillance video lasting 1 minute and 32 seconds captured the event, showing the male suspect exiting a vehicle and engaging in a brief conversation with the victim before stabbing him in the left side of his body. The female suspect, wearing a red t-shirt, exited the vehicle afterward as the victim collapsed between two cars. The pair then left the scene in their vehicle.

Three individuals passing by discovered the victim on the ground and attempted to provide assistance. Emergency services arrived, but paramedics pronounced the man dead at the location due to a stab wound under his arm. The victim's identity remains unknown.

Investigators from the Table View police station used the CCTV footage to identify the suspects and locate them at a residence in Cape Town. The arrests took place shortly before noon on the same day.

Captain Adriana Chandler, spokesperson for the Table View police station, confirmed that officers on patrol noticed a gathering crowd at the scene and found the unresponsive victim. She noted that detectives obtained video evidence from a nearby property, which led to the swift apprehension.

David Harris, chairperson of the Table View Community Policing Forum, expressed approval of the police response, highlighting the detectives' professionalism in locating the suspects.

Wesley Twigg, spokesperson for the provincial police, stated that the reason for the attack has not yet been established.

Nicholas Gotsell, a member of the Select Committee on Security and Justice and constituency head, praised the rapid action by law enforcement.

In response to the event, the Beach Boulevard Business Forum announced plans to increase security measures, such as expanding CCTV installations and improving collaboration with police and private security firms, particularly in preparation for the upcoming festive period.
