Alleged Rape of 12-Year-Old Girl by Stepfather Leads to Pregnancy Discovery in Sasolburg

SASOLBURG, South Africa – Authorities in Sasolburg are investigating a disturbing case of alleged rape involving a 12-year-old girl and her stepfather, with the incident coming to light after the child left a note detailing the assault.

The assault reportedly occurred in the early hours of Sunday, November 9, 2025, around 4 a.m. At that time, the girl's mother had left the home to fetch water due to a local water outage in the area. According to reports, the stepfather allegedly raped the girl during the mother's absence and subsequently left for work.

It is further alleged that this was not an isolated event, with previous instances of rape by the stepfather claimed in connection to the case.

Following the incident, the young girl wrote a letter describing the rape. The letter was discovered by her brother, prompting the family to immediately seek help. They proceeded to the Zamdela police station to report the matter.

From the police station, the family was directed to a nearby hospital for medical examination. It was during this hospital visit that medical professionals confirmed the girl is pregnant.
